1st day of Summer

source: http://www.fudgegraphics.com
Today, 1 Dec 2010 marks the 1st day of summer. But Sydney did not welcome summer with a beautiful blue sky day with plenty of sunshine. The temperature did not move past 20ÂșC. Instead the morning started wet, grey and windy and pretty much continued on for the rest of the day. It was truly miserable. It took me 35 minutes to get to Ash's school, a journey that usually takes 15 mins in the morning. Then it was another hour on the road before I arrived at my office. On the SMH website, it reported that Sydney's summer started with a whimper, it certainly did! This unusual weather pattern is due to global warming and La Nina. There was flash flooding in a few places which only added to the traffic chaos. The North Shore train line was down due to a wiring fault on the Harbour Bridge. The forecast for the next 28 days is not looking good either with rain falling nearly everyday. Oh Lord, please let the sun come out soon, so that the ocean waters can warm up and we can head to the beach.
