Gingerbread House

Last Thursday, I went with some girlfriends to a Gingerbread House Decorating session at one of the local churches close to home. My girls were begging to go, but it was a ladies only event. It was a fun night decorating the house, with plenty of chatter and laughter. The noise level in the church hall was "LOUD" with close to 50 ladies in the group. You can just imagine! My girlfriend said you could hear the laughter and giggles from up the street where she parked. I have done this before two years ago and found it a lot of fun. When Danka asked if I was interested, I jumped at the opportunity. Mind you, my family is only interested in the lollies and chocolates on the house, not the actual gingerbread parts. I learnt from past experience to bring extra lollies with me. My two girls had asked for choc freckles, marshmallows, smarties and candy canes. The process can be messy and sticky with royal icing stuck on your clothes and fingers. Brought an apron this time too...see experience helps. There were ladies there who were obviously 'professionals' in decorating gingerbread houses. We were feeling proud of ourselves with the additional lollies we brought, but it was nothing compared to other ladies who walked in with big boxes filled with champagne, cheese platters, vodka, soda, lemon/lime slices and glassware. Wowsers! Next year, we've going to up the ante to the next level and be even more prepared. Competitive are we?
