Snacks at the Movies

***UPDATE***

Following my post about pricey snacks at the movies, the SMH published an article about a recent CHOICE magazine survey reporting that Aussies are paying way more than their US and NZ counterparts at the movies.

*************
Do you buy popcorn, drinks, choc pops (ice cream) and other snacks at the movies? In Sydney, the snack prices at the cinemas are bloody expensive. A large box of popcorn and large sized soft drink can set you back close to $15. Multiply that by 4 in your family and a trip to the movie and an expensive outing, when you add in the ticket costs too.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am a cheapie when it comes to snacks at the movies. I usually pack our own snacks - bottles of water (my girls don't drink fizzies), chips, popcorn, chocolates and other snacks. Much cheaper to pack what you have in the pantry and take it along with you.

What do you do?

  1. We will buy those caramel-buttered pop corns - 3 large boxes. Everyone loves those pop corns. At the same time, we will also smuggle in other snacks hehe. We are not allowed to bring own snacks in actually.

  2. We love caramel popcorn in my household. Lucky they don't check your bags, so you can smuggle snacks in.
